10. AK-12
The AK-12 is the designed and manufactured by Kalashnikov Concern (formerly Izhmash). It is the newest derivative of the Russian AK-Pattern series of assault rifles and was intended to replace the older AK-74M and AK-100 rifles for domestic use by the Russian army and law enforcement as well as for export. AK-12 project was commenced in 2011 by IZHMASH factory (now part of the “Kalashnikov” concern) as a private venture, in an attempt to participate in the “Ratnik” trials which were held by Russian army. AK-12 is a Russian 5.45×39mm assault rifle and has two main variants, the AK-12 chambered in 5.45×39mm cartridge and the AK-15 chambered in 7.62×39mm cartridge.
9. Tavor TAR-21
The Tavor TAR-21 assault rifle was developed by Israel Weapon Industries (IWI) in the early 1990s. It is bullpup assault rifle chambered in 5.56×45mm NATO cartridge with a selective fire system, selecting between semi-automatic mode and full automatic fire mode. The Tavor TAR-21 is a gas operated, selective fire, magazine fed assault rifle of bullpup configuration. It is available in several configurations,which differ in the barrel lengths and accessories. The basic configuration is the TAR-21 assault rifle with the 460mm barrel. It is designed to maximize reliability, durability, simplicity of design, and ease of maintenance, particularly under adverse or battlefield conditions.
8. EF88 / F90
F90 assault rifle, also known as EF88 is an evolution of the F88 assault rifle, which was adopted by Australian and New Zealand armed forces during late 1980s. The original F88 rifle is a licensed copy of the Austrian Steyr AUG rifle, and it was produced in Australia at Australian Defense Industries factory in Lithgow. The Thales F90 rifles were first displayed to the public in mid-2012, and initial production was scheduled for 2013. The caliber is 5.56x45mm NATO, it supports a 30-round detachable magazine, optional grenade launcher and several Picatinny rails on both sides and the top. The overall length is around 28 inches and it has a rate of fire around 850 RPM. It is gas operated, selectively fired weapon of bullpup layout.
7. FB MSBS
FB MSBS modular weapon system is an indigenous development of Polish Military Technical Academy and Fabryka Broni „Lucznik” – Random weapons factory. MSBS stands for “Modułowy System Broni Strzeleckiej” – modular small arms system. There are two basic variants currently being developed that is based on a common upper receiver: a conventional variant and a bullpup variant. With its variety of modules, both variants can be easily transformed into an assault rifle, carbine, designated marksman rifle or light support weapon.
6. GALIL ACE
The Galil ACE rifles are the new generation of the famous Israeli Galil assault rifles. Galil ACE is based upon the reliable mechanism of the original Galil assault rifle first developed by (Israel Military Industries) IMI in the late 1960’s. The Galil ACE represents full product line of military rifles in world's three most popular calibers (5.56x45 NATO, 7.62x39 M43 and 7.62x51 NATO) made in full spectrum of configurations, from compact carbine and up to long barreled marksman rifle. It is more accurate and weighs less than former versions. This semi-automatic assault rifles sports a folding stock, a 16″ chrome-lined barrel and removable five-port flash reducer.
5. ACR (ADAPTIVE COMBAT RIFLE)
The ACR was designed by Bushmaster, MagPul and Remington. Remington was later contracted to manufacture these rifles for the US military and law enforcement. The ACR was initially conceived to provide today’s warfighter an American-made, reliable, accurate, and mission –configurable rifle. The military ACR has a three-position selector switch, with safe, semi-automatic and fully automatic settings. The most interesting aspect of this weapon is its ability to change from a 5.56mm to a 6.8mm caliber in only a few minutes. This weapon can be used in close-quarter combat as well as long range combat.
4. VHS 2
VHS-2 is a new family of assault rifles,a 5.56×45mm NATO bullpup assault rifle designed and produced in Croatia by HS Products company of Croatia. The VHS rifle was first introduced at the 2007 IKA exhibition, the annual Croatian innovation display that takes place in the city of Karlovac. This family includes two basic versions of the infantry rifle – “standard size” VHS D2 rifles and “compact” VHS K2 rifles. The VHS-2 is a 5.56x45mm NATO bullpup that sports quite a few upgrades from the previous model. The most visible upgrades are the NATO accessory rails which have been added to both sides of the front hand guard.
3. M4 CARBINE
The M4 carbine is a shorter and lighter variant of the M16A2 assault rifle. The M4 is a 5.56×45mm NATO, air-cooled, direct impingement gas-operated, magazine-fed carbine. It has a 14.5 in (370 mm) barrel and a telescoping stock. The M4/M4A1 5.56mm Carbine is a lightweight, gas operated, air cooled, magazine fed, selective rate, shoulder fired weapon with a collapsible stock. It is now the standard issue firearm for most units in the U.S. military. Equipped with a shorter barrel, collapsible stock and detachable carrying handle (with a built-in accessory rail) it provides soldiers operating in close quarters with improved handling and the capability to rapidly and accurately engage targets at extended range.
2. MPT-76
Turkish defense manufacturer MKEK (Makina ve Kimya Endüstrisi Kurumu) began development of a new assault rifle for Turkish armed forces in around 2007. A first batch of 200 MPT-76 battle rifles were delivered to the Turkish armed forces in 2014. The MPT-76 was designed for robust high altitude, all weather combat, capable of functioning in extreme hot and cold weather. It is a gas-operated 7.62x51mm NATO assault rifle designed for the most harsh environments. The MPT-76 has recently replaced the HK G3 in the Turkish Armed Forces.
1. HK G36
The G36 designed in the early 1990s by Heckler & Koch company. it was designed to replace heavier 7.62mm G3 battle rifle. The reason behind that project was that the Bundeswehr (the German army), after the cancellation of the G11 and G41 projects, was left with outdated G3 rifle and no modern rifle, compatible with the current NATO standards at hands. Therefore the famous company Heckler & Koch was set to develop a new assault rifle for both German army and the export. G36 is a 5.56×45mm assault rifle. It is gas-operated and feeds from a 30-round detachable box magazine or 100-round C-Mag drum magazine. The G36 is selective fire rifle, made from most modern materials and using most modern technologies.
